W. Brooks Barfield Jr. was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. He has been practicing trial law in Amarillo since 1992. Brooks originally limited his trial practice to the field of personal injury trial law. However, as a young lawyer most of his personal injury cases were settling, and Brooks was not getting the time in court he desired. Consequently, Brooks decided to expand his practice to the fields of domestic relations law and criminal law. Family law and criminal law are areas of law that generally involve weekly court appearances. The addition of family law and criminal law to his practice proved to be a success. Presently, Brooks limits his practice to the aforementioned areas of trial law.
